ANTARCTICA?

We went to the Pensacola Commissary grocery shopping on Monday.  As we walked pass a truck in a handicapped parking spot, I noticed the front license plate.  (Neither FL nor AL requires a front license plate)  It said Antarctica!!!

Took a photo with our phone and texted it to Terrie, Nathan, Pat & Bob, and Betty.   Nathan immediately googled something and came up with information about the plate and Antarctica.  Duh!  Would I have done that when I got home?   Don't think so!   Thank you, Nathan!!!

The "SP" refers to the South Polar land mass; the penguin is Adele species; the 90 degree refers to the latitude at the bottom of the earth; "the World's Last Frontier" is self-explanatory.  He gave us a website to check and it said that these plates were just souvenirs available for purchase by people stationed at the different bases on the continent.  No official license plates are actually issued and no vehicles are registered there.

License plates catch my eye because we look for them as we travel south and as we travel north, hoping to see all 50 states on each trip.  Coming south this year we only missed 4 states.  We almost always see AK and HI, but that may be because we spend time on military bases camping or buying groceries!  Canadian provinces and occasional Mexican states are counted as well!

Oh, yes, the back plate, the official one, was from AL!
