ARKANSAS - Fall 2016
On to Arkansas where we planned to spend the weekend with Gary's cousin, Cliff and Dorothy. We camped at the Crystal Ridge RV Park. It's on a hill in the trees with rocks everywhere. Further up the driveway is a Crystal Mine where quartz is dug out of an open pit mine. We haven't gotten into crystals at all, but the place is cheap and close to Cliff. Our neighbor had a sculpture near our motorhome:
It's a DRAGON!
The campground is really close to Lake Ouachita in the Ouachita Mountains which are west of Hot Springs and south of the Ozarks. So we went looking for the dam that created the lake. Sometimes there are lots of birds where the water flows out of the dam, but not so here. They're having a drought.
Then we drove on to Alabama. We're now home at our campground in Foley. Lots of campers in the park and we haven't figured out if they're permanent residents here or passing through. Only four of our regular snow birds so far! We've been to the Elberta Museum Sunday and today to pick up branches, work on some construction and mow the weeds out of the parking lot. The three kittens have become cats, but still love the attention of holding them. They immediately went on my back, but their claws are much bigger and sharper - ouch!! We like to keep busy. No nightly card games yet!
